Piriton Syrup – Fast-Acting Allergy Relief for Adults & Children

Piriton Syrup provides fast and effective relief from a wide range of allergic conditions, including hay fever, skin allergies, food allergies, insect bites, and more. 

How it works:
Piriton contains chlorphenamine maleate, an antihistamine that blocks the effects of histamine – the chemical your body produces when it detects allergens. This helps ease allergy symptoms like itching, swelling, rashes, and sneezing. 

Who it's for:
• Suitable for children aged 1+
• Also used by adults for allergy relief
• Always follow age-appropriate dosage guidelines below

Dosage instructions:
Always follow the leaflet or guidance from your doctor or Happy Pharmacy pharmacist.

Children 1–2 years: 2.5ml twice daily (max 5ml/day)
Children 2–6 years: 2.5ml every 4–6 hours (max 15ml/day)
Children 6–12 years: 5ml every 4–6 hours (max 30ml/day)
Adults & children over 12: 10ml every 4–6 hours (max 60ml/day)
Adults over 65: 10ml every 4–6 hours (max 30ml/day)

Do not use for more than 14 days without medical advice.

Common side effects:
Some people may experience:
• Drowsiness or sedation 
• Dizziness or difficulty concentrating
• Blurred vision
• Headaches
• Feeling sick or being sick 
• Dry mouth
• Tiredness or fatigue

If side effects occur, refer to the leaflet or report through the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects:
Seek urgent medical help if you notice any signs of a serious allergic reaction such as:
• Swelling of the face or throat
• Breathing difficulty
• Skin rash
• Loss of consciousness 

Do not use if you:
• Are allergic to any ingredients
• Are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression within the last 2 weeks
• Are using any other antihistamines (including cough or cold medicines)

Speak to your doctor/pharmacist if you have:
• High blood pressure or heart problems
• Epilepsy
• Glaucoma
• Prostate enlargement
• Liver or kidney disease
• Asthma, bronchitis, or bronchiectasis
• Sugar intolerance

Interactions with other medicines:
Let your GP or pharmacist know if you’re taking:
• Epilepsy medication like phenytoin
• Sleep aids or anti-anxiety medicines
• Any non-prescription or herbal products

Age restrictions:
Do not give to children under 12 months old.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding:
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a baby 

Driving and using machines:
Piriton may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving or using machinery until you know how it affects you 

Storage:
• Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place
• Keep out of sight and reach of children
• Do not use after the expiry date printed on the bottle or packaging
