Anadin Extra is a painkiller that gets to work fast to relieve pain and fever. Ideal for those who suffer from migraines and headaches but can also be used to ease many other different kinds of pain, making it a perfect all-round pain relief.
What kinds of pain can this product be used for?
Although Anadin Extra is perfect for relieving pain caused by headaches and migraines, it can also help to relieve many other kinds of pain caused by lots of different conditions. Some of the most common uses for Anadin Extra include:

How will this product relieve my pain?
Each Anadin Extra caplet contains three active ingredients which work together to relieve your pain as quickly as possible. These ingredients are:

300mg of aspirin

200mg of paracetamol
-
45mg of caffeine
Aspirin and paracetamol work together to relieve pain, reduce high temperatures and reduce fever. Aspirin also has anti-inflammatory properties which mean it can help to reduce swelling. Caffeine works to increase the speed of the aspirin and paracetamol, helping them to get to work and relieve your pain faster.
Can I take this product if I'm pregnant?
If you're within the late stages of pregnancy or are breastfeeding, you should not take Anadin Extra. If you're in the early stages of pregnancy you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product. Anadin Extra contains 45mg caffeine, which should be limited to less than 200mg a day during pregnancy.
Can I take this product if I'm taking other medication?
If you're taking any other medication, including those you obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Anadin Extra. You should not take this product if you are taking medications to reduce blood clotting or to treat gout, including warfarin and sulfinpyrazone. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you are taking:

Water tablets

Certain cancer treatments, e.g. methotrexate

Medication used to treat diarrhoea caused by gall bladder disease

Lipid lowering drugs, e.g. cholestyramine

Some antibiotics, e.g. chloramphenicol
-
Anti-sickness medications, e.g. metoclopramide, domperidone
-
Steroid hormones, corticosteroids
-
Medications used to treat epilepsy, e.g. phenytoin, valproate
-
Medications for high blood pressure, e.g. ACE inhibitors
-
Antacids
-
Treatments for leg pain while walking, e.g. cilostazol
-
Mifepristone
-
Treatments for gout, e.g. probenecid
-
Treatments for obesity, e.g. sibutramine
-
Antidepressants, e.g. SSRIs, venlafaxine

Some asthma medications, e.g. zafirlukast
-
Any other NSAIDs, e.g. ibuprofen, aspirin
How to take Anadin Extra
For best results, take 2 Anadin Extra caplets with a glass of water. Do this up to 4 times a day, as needed, making sure that you do not take more than 8 caplets in 24 hours. Leave at least 4 hours between each dose.
Why do I need to answer questions to buy this product?
You do not need a prescription for Anadin Extra, however, you will be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire by your Happy Pharmacy pharmacist before we can take your order. This includes some simple questions that all pharmacies legally are required to ask before supplying this kind of product. This helps our pharmacy team to be sure that this product is the best choice for you.
When should Anadin Extra not be used?
Anadin Extra is not suitable for use by those under the age of 16. Do not take this product if you are allergic to aspirin, paracetamol, caffeine, or any of the other listed ingredients. Anadin Extra is not suitable for those who have:

Stomach ulcers, perforation, or bleeding, or have ever had them

Haemophilia (blood that does not clot well)
-
Gout
-
Late stage pregnancy or are breastfeeding
Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this product if you have:

Asthma
-
Allergic disease
-
Kidney or liver disease, including alcoholic liver disease
-
Dehydration
-
Phenylketonuria (PKU)
-
A G-6-PD deficiency
Does this product have side effects?
Like all medicines, Anadin Extra can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. If you experience any of the following side effects, stop use and seek medical attention immediately:

Stomach ulcers or perforation, showing symptoms such as severe abdominal pain or blood in your stools.
-
Severe allergic reactions, e.g. difficulty breathing, skin rash, swollen facial features.
-
Breathing problems, e.g. wheezing
-
Serious skin reactions, e.g. reddening, blisters, or rash.
Other side effects you may experience include:

Blood does not clot well, showing symptoms such as bruising or bleeding
-
Reduction in white blood cells, making infection more likely
-
Tremors, shaking, and palpitations
-
Gout in those prone to it
-
Indigestion
-
Heartburn
-
Nausea and vomiting
-
Changes in skin colour
-
Shortness of breath
-
Runny nose

How to store this product?
Store in a cool, dry place which is below 25 degrees C. Do not use this product if the expiry date printed on the original packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
