How Does Canesten Thrush External Cream Work?
This cream contains clotrimazole, an antifungal medicine from the azole group, which:

Fights the cause of thrush by eliminating yeast overgrowth

Prevents fungal cells from growing, stopping the infection

Provides relief from itching and external discomfort
Note: This cream treats external symptoms only—for internal treatment, use in combination with an appropriate vaginal product.
How to Use Canesten Thrush External Cream

Pierce the tube seal before first use

Apply a thin, even layer to the entrance of the vagina

Use 2–3 times daily, smoothing the cream in gently
For external use only—use a separate treatment for internal thrush.
What Causes Thrush in Women?
Thrush is a common yeast infection, triggered by an imbalance in vaginal yeast levels.
Factors that may increase thrush risk:

Sexual activity

Antibiotic use

Pregnancy

Weakened immune system or poorly managed diabetes
Thrush is NOT linked to poor hygiene.

Warnings & Precautions
Do NOT use Canesten Thrush External Cream if:

You are allergic to clotrimazole, cetostearyl alcohol, or benzyl alcohol
Consult your GP or pharmacist before use if:

You’re unsure whether you have thrush

This is your first time experiencing thrush symptoms

You’ve had more than two thrush infections in the last six months
-
You or your partner have had a sexually transmitted infection (STI)
-
You are under 16 or over 60
-
You have any of the following symptoms:

Irregular or abnormal vaginal bleeding

Ulcers, blisters, or sores
-
Lower abdominal pain
-
Pain or difficulty passing urine
-
Fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or chills

Foul-smelling vaginal discharge
-
If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor immediately.
Possible Side Effects
Most users tolerate Canesten well, but side effects can occur.
