What is Viagra Connect?

VIAGRA CONNECT is a treatment for men aged 18 years and older with erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence, is an inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is firm enough to have sex. Erections depend on many different factors, including proper blood flow to the penis. Reduced blood flow to the penis may cause erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction can affect men differently. Some cannot achieve an erection. Others may achieve an erection, but not firm enough for having sex or they may lose the erection before or during sex.

Viagra Connect, manufactured by Pfizer, contains sildenafil 50mg, the same active ingredient found in prescription Viagra. It offers the same benefits, such as helping men achieve and maintain an erection when sexually stimulated. It typically starts working within 30 to 60 minutes of ingestion and can last for up to 4 hours.

Although it looks similar to Viagra, the main difference is that Viagra Connect can be purchased over-the-counter in the UK without a prescription, making it more accessible for men with erectile dysfunction. Supply is only made after an assessment confirms it is safe for you, particularly if you have any health conditions such as heart issues, low blood pressure, or are taking other medications. If you’re unsure, feel free to consult our knowledgeable Happy Pharmacy Team or your doctor for personalised advice.

How does Viagra Connect work?

Viagra is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction. VIAGRA CONNECT contains the active substance sildenafil, which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. It works by relaxing the blood vessels in your penis, allowing blood to flow into your penis when you get sexually excited and causing an erection. VIAGRA CONNECT will only help you to get an erection if you are sexually excited (stimulated). It takes about 30 to 60 minutes to start working and the effects can last for 2 to 4 hours.

What is the difference between Viagra Connect and Viagra?

Viagra Connect and Viagra both contain the same active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, and work in the same way to treat erectile dysfunction. However, there are a few key differences:

Availability
a. Viagra Connect: Can be purchased over the counter without a prescription, making it more accessible for men experiencing erectile dysfunction.
b. Viagra: is a prescription only medication which can be issued after an online consultation with the clinical team at Happy Pharmacy.

Dosage Options
a. Viagra Connect: Only available in a single 50mg dosage.
b. Viagra: Available in three different strengths—25mg, 50mg, and 100mg. If you require a higher or lower dosage than 50mg, a prescription for Viagra will be necessary.

Convenience
a. While Viagra Connect offers a more convenient option for many men by being available over the counter, it still requires a short consultation with a pharmacist to ensure it is safe and appropriate for you to use. This can be done quickly online and reviewed by our pharmacy team.

If you're unsure about which option is best for you, feel free to contact our team for advice or consult your doctor for further guidance.
