Wegovy Storage: Temperature, Fridge Rules and Pen Instructions
Wegovy injections should normally be stored in a fridge at 2–8°C, but the time allowed outside the fridge depends on the pen. A 0.25–2.4 mg FlexTouch pen can be kept below 30°C or refrigerated for up to 6 weeks after first use. A 7.2 mg single-use pen can be kept unrefrigerated at no more than 30°C for up to 28 days and must be discarded after one injection. Never freeze Wegovy and do not use a pen that has been frozen.
These Wegovy storage instructions apply to the Wegovy weight loss injection pens supplied in the UK. Check the strength and device on your carton before following them because the reusable-dose FlexTouch pens and the 7.2 mg single-use pens have different limits. Wegovy storage instructions
- Check which Wegovy pen you have. The 0.25, 0.5, 1, 1.7 and 2.4 mg FlexTouch pens contain four weekly doses. Each 7.2 mg pen contains one dose only.
- Keep unused pens in the fridge. Store them at 2–8°C, away from the cooling element.
- Protect the medicine from light. Keep FlexTouch pens capped and keep 7.2 mg pens in their original carton.
- Store it safely at home. Keep pens, detachable needles and sharps bins out of the sight and reach of children and pets. A high fridge shelf or a suitable locked medicine container can help where access is a concern, provided the correct temperature is maintained and the pen is kept away from the cooling element.
- Never freeze Wegovy. Do not use a pen that has been frozen, even if it has thawed.
- Apply the correct out-of-fridge limit. FlexTouch pens may be kept below 30°C or refrigerated for 6 weeks after first use. A 7.2 mg pen may be unrefrigerated at no more than 30°C for up to 28 days.
- Write down the relevant date. Record the first-use date on a FlexTouch pen or the date a 7.2 mg pen was removed from the fridge.
- Inspect the solution before use. Do not use Wegovy if the liquid is not clear and colourless or almost colourless.

Wegovy storage temperature
The recommended Wegovy storage temperature before use is 2–8°C. Keep pens away from the cooling element and do not place them where they may freeze. A middle fridge shelf is usually more stable than the door, although the key requirement is maintaining the temperature range stated in your leaflet.
Both injectable pen types may be kept at room temperature below the stated maximum of 30°C, but their permitted time outside the fridge is different. Direct sunlight, a hot car or luggage left near a heat source can exceed this limit quickly.
How long can Wegovy be out of the fridge?
A 0.25–2.4 mg FlexTouch pen can be stored below 30°C or in a fridge for up to 6 weeks after first use. The official product information also supports controlled delivery below 30°C for up to 48 hours before first use.
A 7.2 mg single-use pen can be stored unrefrigerated at no more than 30°C for up to 28 days. It should be discarded if it has been outside the fridge for longer, exposed to temperatures above 30°C or frozen.

What to do if Wegovy has been left warm, frozen or in bright light
Left at room temperature
Use the device-specific limits above and record when the pen left the fridge. If the temperature may have exceeded 30°C, ask your pharmacist before using it.
Left in a hot car or direct sunlight
Do not use the pen until a pharmacist has assessed the likely temperature and exposure time. For a 7.2 mg pen, official instructions say to discard it after exposure to light or temperatures above 30°C.
Frozen or placed against an ice pack
Do not use it. Freezing is outside the approved storage conditions for both devices.
Cloudy, discoloured or containing particles
Do not inject it. Contact the pharmacy that supplied it for advice.
Storing Wegovy while travelling
- Keep Wegovy in your hand luggage rather than checked baggage.
- Use an insulated medicine pouch when heat exposure is possible.
- Do not allow the pen to touch an ice pack directly because it could freeze.
- Keep the cap or original carton in place to protect the medicine from light.
- Carry evidence of your prescription and check airline rules before travelling.

Wegovy storage FAQs
Can I put Wegovy back in the fridge?
A FlexTouch pen may be stored below 30°C or in the refrigerator during its six-week in-use period. For a 7.2 mg pen, keep a record of the total time it has been unrefrigerated and do not exceed 28 days. Ask your pharmacist if its storage history is uncertain.
Can I use Wegovy after the expiry date?
No. Do not use Wegovy after the expiry date printed on the pen and carton, even if it has remained refrigerated.
Does Wegovy need to be refrigerated during delivery?
The official product information supports controlled shipment below 30°C for up to 48 hours. Contact the supplying pharmacy if the parcel was delayed, felt hot or appears damaged.
Is Wegovy storage the same as Mounjaro storage?
