Recommended Dosage

Adults (18+):

  • Take 2 tablets initially, then 1 tablet after each loose bowel movement

  • Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours

  • Do not use for longer than 48 hours—consult a doctor if symptoms persist

 

Children & young people (12–18 years):

  • Take 1 tablet initially, then 1 tablet after each loose bowel movement

  • Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours

How Does Imodium Dual Action Work?

  • Loperamide (2mg) slows down the bowel, helping absorb fluids more effectively

  • Simeticone (125mg) breaks down excess gas, easing bloating & cramps

 

Causes of Diarrhoea

Diarrhoea occurs when fluid absorption is disrupted in the bowel. Common causes include:

  • Food intolerance or allergy

  • Food poisoning

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

  • Viral infections (e.g., norovirus)

  • Bacterial infections (e.g., E. coli)

  • Reaction to medication

  • Bowel or intestinal disorders

  • Coeliac disease

 

Causes of Cramps, Bloating & Trapped Wind

Excess gas buildup can result from gastrointestinal infections or bowel disorders like IBS. Symptoms include:

  • Bloated abdomen

  • Abdominal discomfort

  • Excessive flatulence or belching

  • Gurgling or rumbling noises

Can Children Use Imodium Dual Action Relief Tablets?

  • Not suitable for children under 12

Does Loperamide Cause Drowsiness?

  • May cause drowsiness, tiredness, or dizziness—avoid driving or operating machinery if affected

 

When NOT to Use This Product

Avoid use if:

  • Allergic to loperamide, simeticone, or ingredients

  • Previous severe allergic reaction to this medicine

  • Intended for children under 12 years old

  • Severe diarrhoea after antibiotic use

  • Flare-up of inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., ulcerative colitis)

  • Constipation or swollen abdomen

  • Acute dysentery (bloody stools & fever)

 

Consult your doctor before use if you:

  • Have liver disease

  • Have AIDS

  • Experience persistent or severe diarrhoea

 

Medication Interactions – Speak to a Doctor Before Use If Taking:

  • Quinidine (irregular heart rhythms/malaria)

  • Itraconazole or ketoconazole (fungal infections)

  • Gemfibrozil (high cholesterol)

  • Ritonavir (HIV or AIDS treatment)

  • Desmopressin (diabetes insipidus, excessive urination)
