💰 Important Update: Mounjaro Price Changes and Your Weight Loss Journey
We know this isn’t the news you wanted to hear, and we want to address it with you openly and honestly.
From 1st September 2025, Eli Lilly — the manufacturer of Mounjaro — will be increasing UK prices significantly. Current monthly costs of £92–£122 will rise to between £133–£330, representing up to a 170% increase at the higher doses.
At Happy Pharmacy, we understand how unsettling this news must feel, particularly when you’ve been making real progress with your weight loss journey. Please know this: you are not alone 🤝. We will remain as competitive as possible while always keeping your safety and personalised care our top priority.
Why Prices Are Changing 💷
- Manufacturer-led decision: Eli Lilly has stated the new prices bring the UK more in line with other developed markets.
- Initial lower pricing: At launch, UK prices were set below the European average to speed up NHS access.
- NHS unaffected: NHS patients remain on current pricing for now.
- Private patients impacted: Unfortunately, this increase affects all pharmacies and private providers across the UK.
The Human Impact ❤️
Mounjaro has changed lives — restoring confidence, improving health markers, reducing mobility issues, and offering real hope. For many patients, including those with conditions like PCOS or endometriosis, access to weight loss treatment is about health, not vanity.
We share your frustration that this change risks creating inequality, where only those who can afford higher prices can continue treatment.
Your Options Going Forward 🌱
Continue with Mounjaro
- Medication itself remains unchanged in strength, formulation, and safety.
- Some patients may consider ordering ahead before September at the current price where availability allows (please discuss with our clinical team before doing so).
- Unfortunately we will need to increase pricing to accommodate theses increased manufacture charges as we get closer to the 1st September Deadline.
- We have had to place a limit of 2x per order and there may be be a delay processing your order
Consider Switching to Wegovy
With this price change, Wegovy has become a more cost-effective long-term option.
Why Wegovy Might Be Right for You:
✅ Proven results: In clinical trials, Wegovy 7.2mg achieved an average 20.7% weight loss, with 1 in 3 participants losing 25% or more.
❤️ Cardiovascular benefits: The only GLP-1 in the UK licensed to reduce risk of heart attack and stroke in people with obesity and heart disease.
💡 Affordability: Now significantly more cost-effective compared to Mounjaro.
Switching from Mounjaro to Wegovy 🔄
Any switch should be made under clinical supervision. Here’s what to expect:
- Timing: A 7-day washout period between your last Mounjaro dose and your first Wegovy injection.
- Starting dose: Typically starting low and building gradually. If you’ve tolerated higher Mounjaro doses, our clinicians may start you higher to maintain momentum.
- Personalised approach: Tailored to your tolerance, goals, and side effect profile.
⚠️ Some patients may see a brief plateau during the transition, but this usually resolves as the optimal dose is reached.
