Retatrutide is not authorised for use in the UK. The MHRA says that anyone selling it in the UK is doing so illegally. Do not buy it from social media, unregulated websites, or sellers offering powders, vials or “research peptides”.

What is Retatrutide?

Retatrutide is an investigational medicine being studied for obesity and other conditions. Research is still underway, and the MHRA has not authorised it as a medicine in the UK. It cannot be prescribed or supplied through a legitimate UK pharmacy for weight management.

Why is buying Retatrutide online unsafe?

Medicines sold outside the regulated supply chain may be counterfeit, contaminated, incorrectly dosed or contain ingredients that are not shown on the label. The MHRA has specifically warned people not to be tempted by online hype around Retatrutide and has taken enforcement action against illegal weight-loss medicine operations.

A proper clinical assessment allows a qualified prescriber to check whether treatment is appropriate, consider other medicines and health conditions, explain risks, and provide follow-up support.

If you have already bought or used an unregulated product

Do not inject or take more of the product. Keep the packaging if it is safe to do so, and seek advice from a pharmacist, prescriber or NHS 111. Call 999 or go to A&E if you have severe symptoms, such as severe abdominal pain, trouble breathing, fainting, chest pain, or persistent vomiting. Suspected side effects or counterfeit medicines can be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.

Choosing a legitimate weight-management service

Prescription weight-management medicines should only be supplied after an appropriate consultation. When buying online, check that the pharmacy is registered with the GPhC and that there is a clear route to clinical advice.
