How Aspirin 300mg Tablets work 

 

Aspirin 300mg Tablets belong to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). 

Aspirin blocks hormones called prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain and swelling. It stops them from sending pain signals to your brain. 

The tablets also help to reduce swelling and bring down pain. 

 

Directions 

 

Always take Aspirin 300mg Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Happy Pharmacy pharmacist has told you. 

Take 1-3 tablets every 4 hours, up to 4 times a day. Do not take more than 12 tablets in 24 hours. 

 

Side effects 

 

Like all medicines, Aspirin 300mg Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won't affect everybody. Common side effects may include: 

 

  • Feeling sick, being sick and changes to your stomach lining causing swelling and ulcers 

  • Bleeding for longer when you cut yourself 

  • Bleeding under the skin, which may look like bruises 

  • Nosebleeds 

  • Hearing problems 

  • Ringing in the ears 

  • Dizziness 

  • Confusion 

 

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme. 

 

Serious side effects 

 

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. 

 

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking this medicine and seek medical advice immediately: 

 

  • Vomiting blood or dark particles that look like coffee grounds 

  • Blood in your stools or black, tarry stools 

  • Stomach problems e.g. pain, indigestion, heartburn 

  • Bleeding on the brain, causing a severe headache or stroke 

 

Warnings 

 

Aspirin 300mg Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if: 

 

  • You have or have ever had a stomach ulcer 

  • You have haemophilia or any other bleeding condition 

  • You have gout 

 

Talk to your doctor or Happy Pharmacy pharmacist before taking this medicine if: 

 

  • You have an intolerance to some sugars 

  • You have or have ever had asthma 

  • You are dehydrated 

  • You have glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency 

 

Using/taking other medicines 

 

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product. 

 

You must tell your healthcare provider if you are taking the following medicines: 

 

  • Metoclopramide, which is used for sickness and digestive disorders 

  • Anticoagulants e.g. warfarin, heparin and nicumalone 

  • Corticosteroids e.g. hydrocortisone 

  • NSAIDs e.g. ibuprofen 

  • Medications for high blood pressure e.g. diuretics, angio-II receptor antagonists and ace inhibitors 

  • Epilepsy medication e.g. phenytoin and sodium valproate 

  • Methotrexate, which is used for psoriasis, arthritis and tumours 

  • Antacids, which are used for indigestion 

  • Gout medications e.g. probenecid and sulphinpyrazone 

  • Antidepressants e.g. citalopram 

 

Age restrictions 

 

This product is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding 

This product should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy. You may take these tablets during the first stages of your pregnancy if advised to do so by your healthcare provider. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Happy Pharmacy pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

 

Driving and operating machinery 

 

This medication may cause dizziness in some cases. If affected, do not drive or operate machinery until you feel safe enough to do so. 

 

Storage information 

 

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
