Mounjaro and Wegovy are prescription medicines and should be stored exactly as described in the leaflet supplied with your own pen. Keeping them at the right temperature and out of the reach of children helps protect both the medicine and the people in your home.
Where should you keep weight-loss injection pens?
Before first use, Mounjaro and Wegovy pens are generally stored in a refrigerator at 2–8°C. Keep them in their original carton where the leaflet advises it, protect them from light, and do not freeze them. Avoid the freezer compartment, cooling element and places that may become very hot, such as cars, window ledges and conservatories.
Keep medicines in a place that children and pets cannot reach or see. A high shelf or a locked container may be useful where access is a concern, provided it does not interfere with the storage temperature in the medicine leaflet.

A practical home-storage checklist
- Store unused pens at 2–8°C unless the leaflet for your specific medicine says otherwise.
- Keep pens in their original packaging where directed and protect them from light.
- Never freeze a pen or let it touch an ice pack directly.
- Keep pens, needles and sharps bins out of the sight and reach of children.
- After each injection, dispose of needles immediately in a sharps bin as directed for your pen.
- Do not share an injection pen with anyone, even with a new needle.
If a pen may have been stored incorrectly
Do not use a pen if you think it has frozen, overheated, been left in direct sunlight or stored beyond the limit in its leaflet. Contact your pharmacist or prescriber for advice before using it. If someone else has used your medicine or may have injected it, seek urgent medical advice; call 999 for a serious or life-threatening emergency.
